Do your thoughts reflect the kind words you would say to a friend or are you constantly putting yourself down inside your head?

t’s the end of the day, you’re ready to just take your shoes off and REST… but the choice of meeting up with friends for dinner or actually cooking it yourself sounds impossible to make. THEN, your honey asks when, what date and time, should they schedule that thing you’ve been putting off forever. Maybe you didn’t necessarily have a bad day, but you just feel closed in on. Depending on who you are, how many decisions you’ve been faced with in a day, and the type of decisions you’ve had to make it can be really easy to get there.

Fast forward about a year and life was going splendidly. My mood was pretty consistent and positive, I had confidence in my habits, I had a pretty good routine, I also had a list of things that I knew could reset my mood and mindset whenever I experienced a slump. All of those things that I observed positively affecting my life were right there with CHECKBOXES next to them when I need a pick-me-up.

Generally speaking, there’s 2 types of people: those that are too critical of their flaws and those that seem to believe the sun shines out of their rear-end.
Frankly, you don’t want to be either one of those people.

Rest: The Buzzword Right now we’re at a time when #selfcare is so popular and we’re beginning to admit to the importance of prioritizing our health above our productivity. But while we’re all chasing after the illusive rest… do we really know what we’re doing? Do we really know how to rest? Does a list […]

The Problem You feel like you either have no motivation to really accomplish the things you want in life or feel like your self-image is really in the gutter. Whether those things are bringing up anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, over-sleeping, self-loathing, body image issues, eating disorders, or just a slight demotivation to TRY – it’s time […]

Whether you eat your feelings, drink your problems, or shop your troubles away, you are using a vice to cope with your feelings. Relying on this ‘thing’ allows you to ignore the real emotion and evade – push it down deeper. You’ve got to figure out what crutch you’re using so that you can disarm it.

1. Refocus your thoughts
Right now, you’re thinking about that one thing that you did wrong, or the thing you SHOULD have done, or how your life is one giant mess as a whole. Take a breath and get back to your center. What are your priorities? Are your priorities to mentally beat yourself down until you’re unable to do anything? If that’s not your goal, then you need refocus your thoughts.
Make a list. Take pen and paper or your list app on your phone and WRITE OUT the things that are most important to you. Try picturing yourself living the life you want to be living. When you picture that, what are you doing? Stop thinking about what is wrong, and focus on what you want.
2. Replace your thoughts
When trying to refocus your thoughts doesn’t work (and there will be the days that it won’t) REPLACE them! Telling yourself to “stop thinking so negatively” won’t make you do it – it will make go even further down the rabbit hole of “what’s wrong with you”.
So just replace them.

Think of any goal in your life. Or even call it a hope, dream, want. When you think of it, what do you tell yourself you need to do in order to achieve it? Does that list include telling yourself NOT to do something? For most of us it probably does. I need to stop eating junk. I need to STOP spending so much. I need to stop getting to bed so late. I shouldn’t be so cold towards this person. What you need to stop doing is putting so much emphasis on what you want to avoid!

A few months back I came across a blog in which someone shared 10 things they were afraid to share with their readers. I had no idea exactly what would come out of my head when I began typing this out – but I knew it would be a blend of ‘this is where I struggle in my […]

I’m not sure if you’re the same, but seeing other people’s ‘inspiration’ posts just puts me in a good mood. Learning what others are enjoying and drawing energy from makes me savor the things that inspire me and sometimes leads me to reach outside my normal inspiration toolbox. Here’s what I’m into right now: 1. […]
